HEALING PERIOD

-Initial swelling should go down around 2-3 weeks.

-Your piercing should be fully healed in 6 to 9 months.

NOTES

-Switch to softer foods for the first 24-48 hours to minimize pain.

-Wash your hands prior to touching the piercing; leave the piercing alone except when cleaning.

-Take your time with eating until you are used to the piercing and the jewelry is downsized to prevent irritation or prolonged healing.

-Cold foods and beverages can be soothing and help reduce swelling.

NEVER twist or remove jewelry to clean.

*ABSOLUTELY NO ORAL SEX FOR 6 WEEKS TO AVOID INFECTION*

Please come in after 8 weeks to get your posts downsized for optimal healing.

HEALING PERIOD

-Initial swelling should go down around 2-3 weeks.

-Your piercing should be fully healed between 6 to 9 months.

Use Mouthwash anytime you eat, drink, kiss or smoke.

NOTES

-Make sure your bedding is washed and changed regularly. Wear clean, comfortable, breathable clothing that protects your piercing while you are sleeping.

-Wash your hands prior to touching the piercing; leave the piercing alone except when cleaning.

-For labret (cheek and lip) piercings: be cautious about opening your mouth too wide as this can result in the jewelry catching on your teeth.

-Cold foods and beverages can be soothing and help reduce swelling.

-Sleeping directly on a healing piercing can cause irritation, even causing shifts in the piercing’s angle.

NEVER twist or remove jewelry to clean.

*ABSOLUTELY NO ORAL SEX FOR 6 WEEKS TO AVOID INFECTION*

Please come in after 8 weeks to get your posts downsized for optimal healing.

Aftercare Procedure

When:

Morning, Night, and after workout for 6-8 weeks

Products Needed:

Sterile Saline Solution Wound Wash

-Non-alcoholic mouthwash

Use Mouthwash anytime you eat, drink, kiss or smoke.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

WASH your hands thoroughly prior to cleaning or touching your piercing for any reason.

Spray piercing with sterile saline wound wash, or you can spray a Q-Tip to the point of a droplet coming off (this helps avoid fibers from the cotton wrapped around the jewelry or in the piercing track.) Remove any debris from jewelry.

DRY with clean, disposable products like gauze or paper towels-- do not use cloth towels, they can harbor bacteria and snag on jewelry.

*Be sure to not skip this step, as it can leave salt deposits on your skin and cause irritation.*

Rinse with a non-alcoholic mouthwash.

Step 4

AVOID

-Cleaning with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, or any harsh products, as these can damage cells. Also avoid ointments as they prevent necessary air circulation.

-Bactine®, pierced ear care solutions, and other products containing Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK). These can be irritating and are not intended for long-term wound care.

-All oral contact, rough play, and contact with others’ bodily fluids on or near your piercing during healing.

-All beauty and personal care products on or around the piercing including cosmetics, lotions, and sprays, etc.

-Using mouthwash containing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. It can irritate the piercing and delay healing.

-Playing with your jewelry. Long term effects include permanent damage to teeth and gums.

-All oral contact, rough play, and contact with others’ bodily fluids on or near your piercing during healing.

-Chewing on tobacco, gum, fingernails, pencils, sunglasses, and other foreign objects that could harbor bacteria. As well as sharing plates, cups, and eating utensils.

-Using straws. Straw use can increase the risk of swelling and bleeding.

-Eating spicy, salty, acidic, or hot temperature foods or beverages for the first two weeks (no specific foods need to be avoided).

Deep Cleaning Procedure

When:

Only when debris is hard to remove as the use of an antibacterial soap may over-dry and irritate your piercing if over used and not rinsed fully.

Products Needed:

-Liquid, dye & fragrance free, antibacterial soap

-Misting saline solution

Step 1

Step 2

Step 4

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

With clean hands lather the liquid antibacterial soap up until it consists of lots of bubbles

Wash top of piercing gently with the bubbles.

Thoroughly rinse piercings with warm water.

Pat dry with a paper towel (only use a paper towel regular towels can carry bacteria and snag jewelry)

Spray saline mist top of piercing.

(Note: Saline Mist can be used as needed throughout the day, such as itching ears or build up removal.)

Dry the saline with clean, disposable products like gauze or paper towels; leaving the piercing wet with water or saline can cause irritation bumps.

Rinse with a non-alcoholic mouthwash.
