Dermal Anchors

HEALING PERIOD
-Initial swelling should go down around 2-4 weeks.
-Your piercing should be fully healed between 6 months to a year.
-Bruising may occur due to the pressure needed to insert the jewelry.
NOTES
-Make sure your bedding is washed and changed regularly. Wear clean, comfortable, breathable clothing that protects your piercing while you are sleeping.
-Wash your hands prior to touching the piercing; leave the piercing alone except when cleaning.
-Surfaces like eyeglasses, etc can be cleaned with an appropriate disinfectant. Items like hats, scarves, headbands, etc should be washed regularly.
-Showers tend to be safer than taking baths, as bathtubs can harbor bacteria. If you bathe in a tub, clean it well before each use and rinse off your piercing when you get out.
-Sleeping directly on a healing piercing can cause irritation, even causing shifts in the piercing’s angle.
-These piercings require maintenance during their entire lifetime because matter can build up underneath the threaded top causing the piercing to become irritated. Saline and/or shower rinses may be helpful with removing matter from underneath the threaded top.
-Avoid putting makeup on these piercings even after healing.
-Even with proper care, surface anchors may be less permanent than other body piercings.
BAND AIDS should be worn at night to avoid snagging during sleep.
You can switch your Dermal Top after six months of healing.
Aftercare Procedure
When:
Morning, Night, and after workout for 6-8 weeks
Products Needed:
Sterile Saline Solution Wound Wash
Round circular sensitive skin band aids.
Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
WASH your hands thoroughly prior to cleaning or touching your piercing for any reason.
Spray piercing with sterile saline wound wash, or you can spray a Q-Tip to the point of a droplet coming off (this helps avoid fibers from the cotton wrapped around the jewelry or in the piercing track.) Remove any debris from jewelry.
DRY with clean, disposable products like gauze or paper towels-- do not use cloth towels, they can harbor bacteria and snag on jewelry.
*Be sure to not skip this step, as it can leave salt deposits on your skin and cause irritation.*
Be sure to clean your Surface Anchor before covering with a Band-Aid for bed.
AVOID

-Cleaning with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, iodine, or any harsh products, as these can damage cells. Also avoid ointments as they prevent necessary air circulation.

-Bactine®, pierced ear care solutions, and other products containing Benzalkonium Chloride (BZK). These can be irritating and are not intended for long-term wound care.

-All oral contact, rough play, and contact with others’ bodily fluids on or near your piercing during healing.
-All beauty and personal care products on or around the piercing including cosmetics, lotions, and sprays, etc.

Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
With clean hands lather the liquid antibacterial soap up until it consists of lots of bubbles
Wash the top of piercing gently with the bubbles.
Thoroughly rinse piercings with warm water.
Pat dry with a paper towel (only use a paper towel regular towels can carry bacteria and snag jewelry)
Spray saline mist.
(Note: Saline Mist can be used as needed throughout the day, such as itching ears or build up removal.)
Dry the saline with clean, disposable products like gauze or paper towels; leaving the piercing wet with water or saline can cause irritation bumps.
